Creating Your First Service

Services are what customers can book. This guide walks you through creating your first service step-by-step.

What Is a Service?

A service is anything you offer that customers can book:

Haircut
Massage
Consultation
Cleaning appointment
Repair service
Lesson or class
Any bookable offering

ℹ️ Important: Customers can only book services you've added to rendevo.

Before You Start

Have this information ready:

✅ Service name - What customers will see
✅ Duration - How long it takes
✅ Price - What you charge
✅ Description - What's included (optional but recommended)

Step-by-Step: Create Your First Service

Step 1: Open Services Page

Log into rendevo
Click Services in the sidebar
Click the + Add Service button (top right)

Step 2: Fill in Basic Information

A form will appear. Fill in these required fields:

Service Name (Required)

What to enter: The name customers will see when booking

Examples:

✅ Good: "Men's Haircut", "60-Minute Deep Tissue Massage"
❌ Avoid: "Service 1", "Haircut"

Tips:

Be specific ("Men's Haircut" not just "Haircut")
Include key details if helpful ("Express 30-Min Haircut")
Max 100 characters

Duration (Required)

What to enter: How long the service takes from start to finish

Range: 5 minutes to 480 minutes (8 hours)

Examples:

Quick service: 15 or 30 minutes
Standard appointment: 45 or 60 minutes
Long session: 90 or 120 minutes

⚠️ Important: Be accurate! Duration affects:

Available booking slots
Your daily capacity
Customer expectations

💡 Include buffer time: If you need 10 minutes to clean between clients, set that separately in Settings → Availability.

Price (Required)

What to enter: Your service price in your business currency

How it works:

Enter just the number (e.g., "50")
Currency symbol is added automatically based on Settings
The AI will tell customers this price

Examples:

€50 for a haircut
€120 for a massage
€200 for a consultation

Variable pricing?

Enter your base price
Add details in the description
Example: "Starts at €50, varies by length"

Description (Optional - Recommended)

What to enter: What's included and any important details

Why add this:

Helps the AI explain your service to customers
Answers common questions
Sets clear expectations

Examples:

For a haircut:
"Classic men's cut including wash, cut, and style. Beard trim available for €10 extra."

For a massage:
"Full body deep tissue massage focusing on tension relief. Includes essential oils and hot towel treatment."

For a consultation:
"Initial 60-minute consultation to discuss your needs and create a custom plan. Follow-up appointments available."

Tips:

Max 500 characters
Mention what's included
Note any extras or add-ons
Specify if booking is required

Step 3: Assign to Location(s) (Required)

What to select: Which location(s) offer this service

If you have one location:

It's pre-selected automatically
You're done with this step

If you have multiple locations:

Check all locations that offer this service
Must select at least one
Example: Select both locations if both offer haircuts

ℹ️ Note: Customers will only see this service when booking at selected locations.

Step 4: Add Service Image (Optional)

What to upload: A photo representing your service

Requirements:

JPG, PNG, or WebP format
Max file size: 5MB
Recommended: Square or landscape ratio

Why add an image:

Makes booking page more attractive
Helps customers visualize the service
Increases booking conversions

💡 Tips for good service images:

Use high-quality photos
Show the result (e.g., styled hair, relaxed client)
Keep it professional
Ensure good lighting

Don't have photos?

Start without images
Add them later as you build your portfolio
Use stock photos temporarily (ensure you have rights)

Step 5: Save Your Service

Review all information
Click Save button
Your service is now live!

✅ Success: The service appears in your Services list and is bookable by customers.

What Happens Next?

Your Service Is Now Bookable

Through AI:

Customers can ask the AI to book this service
AI will check availability and offer time slots
Booking happens automatically

Through Booking Page:

Service appears on your public booking page
Customers can select it when booking online
Shows name, duration, price, and image (if added)

Manual Booking:

You can book this service for customers in Calendar
Select it when creating appointments

Staff Assignment (Optional)

By default, all active team members at a location can perform this service.

Want to assign specific staff?

Go to Services page
Click on your service
Scroll to Staff Assignment section
Check team members who perform this service
Save

Example use cases:

Only senior staff do certain services
Each team member has specialties
Service requires specific certification

ℹ️ Note: If no staff are assigned, all active staff can perform the service.

Available on: Growth and Business plans (Team Members feature)

Adding More Services

Now that you have one service, add more:

Click + Add Service again
Repeat the process
Add as many services as you offer

Recommended: Add at least 2-3 services to give customers options.

Service Organization Tips

Be specific:

"Men's Haircut" and "Women's Haircut" (not just "Haircut")
"30-Min Massage" and "60-Min Massage" (separate services)

Group related services:

Name them similarly: "Haircut - Men's", "Haircut - Women's"
Makes it easier to manage

Consider packages:

"Haircut + Beard Trim" as one service
Or let customers book both separately (multi-service booking)

Multi-Service Bookings

Customers can book multiple services in one appointment.

How it works:

Customer selects multiple services (e.g., Haircut + Beard Trim)
Services are scheduled back-to-back
Total duration and price are calculated automatically
Shows as one appointment group in Calendar

Example:

Haircut: 30 min, €25
Beard Trim: 15 min, €10
Total: 45 min, €35

ℹ️ Automatic: No setup needed. Works with any combination of your services.

Editing Your Service

Need to change something? Easy:

Go to Services page
Find your service
Click the Edit icon (pencil)
Update any field
Click Save

Changes take effect immediately for new bookings.

⚠️ Existing bookings: Already-booked appointments keep the original service details.

Common Questions

Q: How many services can I add?
A: Unlimited on all plans. Add as many as you offer.

Q: Can I delete a service?
A: Yes, but it's better to archive it. This preserves past booking history.

Q: What if my prices change?
A: Edit the service and update the price. New bookings use the new price.

Q: Can I offer different prices at different locations?
A: Not currently. The price is the same at all locations where the service is offered.

Q: Do I need an image for every service?
A: No, images are optional. Services work fine without them.

Q: Can customers request services not on my list?
A: Yes. The AI can escalate custom requests to you, and you can book them manually.

Q: What's the difference between Duration and Buffer Time?
A: Duration is service time. Buffer Time (set in Settings → Availability) is extra time between appointments for cleanup.
